lori and i have one credit card. the balance is not crazy. we pay on time. we pay more than the minimum balance. they raised our rate from 7% to 22% without warning and for no reason. for those of you who know lori, she does not easily become frustrated or angry. when she saw the raised balance she was angry. kennedy came into the kitchen to see what the fuss was about. lori spies her and puts the credit card in her face. lori is yelling "do you see this??? do not every get one! never!". kennedy is very solemn and inquires about why and what is it. they have a discussion about saving, interest rates and budgeting. after a brief (but informative and serious) conversation, kennedy nods and says, "okay. never get a credit card. i am going to go put that in my important stuff to know as an adult book. what? what kid has a book of important things to remember when they are an adult. i did not know if i was more shocked over lori yelling or kennedy's book. i stop kennedy as she is going down the hall and ask her if she really has that book. she nods. i ask her what other things she has written in it. she says "oh, you know, just important things like turning of the lights when you leave a room and to make sure i buy a sensible car and house". those are good things to know.
ADDENDUM:
we ended up paying off the credit card before lori blew a gasket. we are eating peanut butter for the next month. kennedy continues to write in her "responsible adult" book. i read it from time to time. i have learned many things in order to navigate in my adult life. if she could remember to flush she would probably make a better parent.

Maybe you should publish her book. There's probably stuff I should know in there.
