The children passed through immigration with no problem, received their boarding passes and were seated on the plane when an immigration office, on a power trip, removed them all. He stated Liberia was not allowing children to be escorted out of the country any longer. The embassy had approved the children's visas knowing they were being escorted. This was his idea not the governments. I have cussed him out every way you can imagine. I will spare you all the details.
The director is staying in Liberia trying to fix this mess. She has a meeting in the morning and hopefully they will still come home this week.
Please keep the children in your thoughts. I am sure they were scared to death to be pulled off a plane by a government official. Plus, they had to go back to the place they thought they had said goodbye to. It is not a bad place. I am sure they have attachments there and to have to separate twice is awful.
Breathing is easier when typing instead of speaking. We all feel broken. We are trying to remain hopeful they will be home this week.
I will continue to update as we learn more.
