There are times when I cannot handle another screaming fit from Ben. There are times I cannot handle Kennedy whining about all the injustices in her life. There are times when they both melt down and I just want to join them. So I do. Ben usually becomes so intrigued by my behavior that he stops. He will ask me what I am doing, stare at me like I am on crack, start laughing or any combination of the above mentioned reactions.
This morning, Ben was on the floor kicking and screaming about some major wrong in his two-year old life. My patience was short. I got on the floor and threw a fit right along with him. There was a moment when we are both kicking and screaming in unison.
Kennedy comes into the room and says ( this a direct quote), "Will you all stop? I cannot even think!". Honey, I understand.

That's exactly what they tell you to do on the happiest baby on the block, get on their level and they'll understand or be so frightened they have to stop!

What a classic comment from Kennedy! I'm sure you'll get lots of use out of it in the future!

Okay, I thought I was the only crazy one because I have done exactly this when Akins is crying - which usually makes him laugh and forget why he was crying in the first place. Hmmm wonder if it will work at the doctor's tomorrow? Uhhh doubt it.

I use this all the time. The kids stop and ask me, "Why are you doing that?" I answer, "I don't know, why are you doing that?" It usually ends the tantrum there. Nothing like creative parenting. Or maybe we really do just need excuse to have our tantrums:)! Jessica
