The blog has been very therapeutic for me. Writing down frustrations and just keeping a running timeline of how things have been progressing have kept me sane through this process and given Lori a break from my ranting.
As wonderful as the blog has been for me, it has stopped one Ethiopian family from adopting. The country did not want pictures of the kids on the blog and the family was raising money for the adoption on the blog. The country felt if they could not afford the adoption then they could not afford the children.
They had a referral for two children. The country stopped their adoption and revoked their referral. The sad thing is that if an Ethiopian referral does not go through for whatever reason those kids can never be referred again. So the children who are not allowed to be adopted because of a blog will now never be adopted.
The fear this has created for us is beyond words. We have removed all pictures of the children from the blog. In previous and future posts we refer to our son as "K" and our daughter as "G". The information we give regarding the adoption will be very limited. We are so close. We cannot take any chances.
We are also asking that if you post comments that you not use the children's names.
We are debating about removing the blog altogether but what great literary works will be left in the world if not for our blog? Fear not, we will press on but be prepared for more stories about Ben's potty training or our mundane laundry habits. Your welcome.

Shelby and Lori,
As destressing as it is I am glad to see you take action. You are so close hang on girls!
Valerie
Don't worry, just a few more weeks and you can put it all back, with pictures of celebration! Jess
