we have added three chickens to our farm in the middle of the city. our neighbors officially hate us but have been bought off with the promise of city fresh eggs. i am obsessed with chickens. they have been so fun and the kids love playing with them. they are all hens and we have named them laverne, shirley and lucy. we are contemplating getting an ethel. these chickens have been cuddled, pulled in a wagon and pushed in tonka trucks. they will either be very calm or suffer from ptsd. the rabbit loves the chicks and will lay motionless if they are on him. in retrospect, he might not love them but be scared to death. either way it is a cute picture. when gomah and kuker first came home everything brown was chicken poop. every stick, leaf and dirt patch was called chicken poop. now there really is chicken poop for them to scream about. we planted gardens for each kid and they got to select what they wanted to grow. gomah is growing peppers, kennedy is growing strawberries, ben picked carrots and kuker is growing tomatoes. it has been fun planting and taking care of the animals. wait till they realize they have to eat the vegetables they grew. they may not be so enthusiastic next year.
