The last couple of days have been really good. Lori has been home and we have had so much fun. Today we went hiking. We picked a trail that was kid friendly and had a creek. We quickly abandoned the trail and just followed the creek. The kids were looking for fossils, fish, crawdads or any other living thing they could come across. The creek was perfect for exploring. It was mostly shallow and had smooth flat rocks everywhere.
Lori and I taught the kids how to skip rocks and they were excited to see the rocks bounce across the water. It was not long before skipping rocks turned into "find the biggest rock you can carry and throw it as close to the nearest sibling as possible and soak them and run before they catch you" game.
I love summer. I love for our kids to love summer. By the end of the day our kids are so sticky, dirty and matted. Their lips are stained from popsicles, their feet are filthy, their hair is matted to their head from sweat and wearing helmets of various sorts. The white kids are black and the black kids are darker than ever from all the dirt.
After dinner, we have been playing a family game of baseball. It is the kids vs. the parents. That may not sound fair but let me say they out number us, they have the mvp in Gormah, Ben, Kennedy and Kuker are all pretty good batters and Kennedy is the best coach you ever saw. Lori and I get our butts kicked and they love it.
Everyone is doing well. We are adjusting to a big family and falling in love with our life again. Occassionally we think "oh, four is not too big" then we have these subtle reminders:
-We do 90% of our shopping at those bulk, warehouse stores.
- We use everything we buy there in record time.
-More often than not someone, somewhere asks " Are all these your children?".
-Our garage looks like a bike shop.
-I had another one but as I went to type it I completely forgot what it was. Memory loss...another sign of a big family.
So yes, four kids is alot, but we would not have it any other way.

It sounds like things are settling down a bit - very good sign!
